The original Zay Valley, a side valley of the Solda Valley, stretches from 1,850 metres up to the peaks and glaciers of the Vertainspitze and Hoher Angelus, which rise above 3,500 metres. Its pure mountain spring water has a constant temperature of 7°C, a pH value of 7.5 and a total hardness of 5.5 °dH – ideal conditions for brewing ZAY beer.

The first beer, freshly drawn straight from the tank. Amber in colour, easy-drinking, malty and creamy, with a noticeably softer character than a Lager. A bottom-fermented beer with a smooth and rounded finish.

Märzen
Shortly before St George’s Day on 23 April, the final beer of the season was brewed – particularly strong and generously hopped. Stored in ice cellars, it was only served on special occasions such as harvest thanksgiving celebrations and Oktoberfest gatherings.
Pale, creamy and harmoniously balanced, with the malt taking centre stage without becoming overly sweet. A strong, bottom-fermented beer with an appealing character – created for enjoyment, reflection and moments of contemplation.

About us
What began in 2020 with curiosity, a small sack of malt and a cooking pot has today become a small brewpub in the cellars of Hotel Cristallo.
At the foot of the Zay Valley, ZAY beer is brewed here exclusively for the hotel’s own taproom.
